A true initiation never ends.

I was asked to do the poster for the Liturgy show coming up at 3 Clubs. The result was a tribute to a man who changed my mind about a lot of things.

"Animals outline their territories with their excretions, humans outline their territories by ink excretions on paper." - Robert Anton Wilson

Experimental Type

Piece for my favorite author, George Saunders. Printed one copy - large format and had someone give it to him in person. He probably thinks I'm a creep. This is based on some experiments with the geometry of letter forms I have been doing.

It's been a while since I've posted. I just wanted anyone who reads this blog to know about this show. Black Cobra, Moab, and the mighty 16 are playing a free show at 3 of Clubs. I designed this flier. Feel free to spread it across the vast cosmos of the internet.

Truer words

"What is most original in man's nature is often that which is most desperate. Thus new systems are forced on the world by men who simply cannot bear the pain of living with what is. Creators care nothing for their systems except that they be unique. If Hitler had been born in Nazi Germany he wouldn't have been content to enjoy the atmosphere. If an unpublished poet discovers one of his own images in the work of another writer it gives him no comfort, for his allegiance is not to the image or it's progress in the public domain, his allegiance is to the notion that he is not bound to the world as given, that he can escape from the painful arrangement of things as they are."

- Leonard Cohen (excerpt from Beautiful Losers)

In case you haven't heard, True Widow is playing Los Angeles this Wednesday. In case you don't know, this is a big fucking deal. True Widow released one of the best albums of the last 10 years about a year ago. In any case, I designed the flyer for the show. Be there or regret it for years to come. Do yourself a favor and check them out:

To top it off Lantvrn is playing as well. I saw them with their new line up last weekend and it was a treat.

Sell Out

Not everyone knows but I spend my days slaving for the corporate fat cats in the movie industry (in other words I design movie posters). Above are three posters I designed that just got released this week.

The first is for The Tillman Story, a documentary about Pat Tillman. He was a football star that quit the pros to join the military and ended up being killed by friendly fire. Definite government cover ups, possible government conspiracies. I recommend checking it out, it is at Sundance this week.

The next two are for The Last Airbender.

I did each of them while employed at various design agencies.

If you would like to see bigger versions of each of these go here, here, and here.

Natural History

Above is an image I created for the design studio that Nick Pritchard and myself are starting. We are in the stages of forming the identity and building a website. When it is all done you will be able to see the work we have done for clients as varied as: Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Kanye West/Pastelle, Epitaph Records, Hydra Head Records, The Obama Campaign, HBO, Trustkill, 31G, Jade Tree, Nascar, and many more.

The name of our studio is Natural History, Inc. This will be a full service studio offering print, web, environmental, and motion design with the intention of offering the highest quality of work while subverting the mass consciousness by incorporating images of the occult, historical anomalies, and general suggestions towards altered states.

We are already accepting projects so if you are interested in hiring us, please get in touch.

End Days

It's been about a year since I last posted here. I am going to start posting more regularly now but the content will be shifting away from music reviews. Instead I will be focusing on my activities as an artist and designer.

First up - about a month ago I was asked by Lost in a Supermarket to be part of their End Days show. Other artists included Hannah Stouffer, Sterling Bartlett, ReggieKnow, Marco Rached, Max Neutra, Jules Muck, Kyle Thomas, Jonathan Bussiere, Dino Mayorga, Z.La, David Hwang, Christopher Brereton and Farah Anne. Also, Camerin's band LANTRVN played and, as always, slayed.

I will be making tshirts of the design I made for this show (image below). Get in touch if you would like one.

Here are some pics from the event:
